About The Blunderbuss
"Boomsticks, handcannons, and whatever comes out of them"
Harquebusses, Couleuvrines and Handgonnes of old are long gone, evolved into reliable, safe(r) and better firearms, which is most certainly a good thing. Of these guns of yore, the Blunderbuss conjures mental pictures of handfuls of random shot being expelled by a giant flame, as the shooter comically falls on his hind side in thick smoke...
This makes for a fitting name for this website, where anything that shoots a projectile and what revolves around it is worthy of interest, no matter how good or impractical, modern or obsolete it may be. Plastic wonder-nines or forged flintlocks with hand-carved stocks, precision 1,000 yards and beyond rigs or cap-and-ball revolvers, everything is welcome at the Blunderbuss.
This humorous slogan reflects the all encompassing passion and enjoyment the author has for anything that sends a projectile flying in any predictable way, and for these projectiles themselves. The Blunderbuss is a platform meant for sharing information and materials about all that passion, and what revolves around it: guns (and archery), outdoors and hunting, and of course, the inevitable philosophical musings and considerations...
In this modern world, the shooting sports and outdoors are part of the dwindling list of things that cannot be done virtually - let's go outside and enjoy our rights and freedom safely, respectfully, lawfully and responsibly. The Blunderbuss will be there for when the sun sets or the weather is keeping us inside.
