About The Blunderbuss

"Boomsticks, handcannons, and whatever comes out of them"

Harquebusses, Couleuvrines and Handgonnes of old are long gone, evolved into reliable, safe(r) and better firearms, which is most certainly a good thing. Of these guns of yore, the Blunderbuss conjures mental pictures of handfuls of random shot being expelled by a giant flame, as the shooter comically falls on his hind side in thick smoke...

This makes for a fitting name for this website, where anything that shoots a projectile and what revolves around it is worthy of interest, no matter how good or impractical, modern or obsolete it may be. Plastic wonder-nines or forged flintlocks with hand-carved stocks, precision 1,000 yards and beyond rigs or cap-and-ball revolvers, everything is welcome at the Blunderbuss.

This humorous slogan reflects the all encompassing passion and enjoyment the author has for anything that sends a projectile flying in any predictable way, and for these projectiles themselves. The Blunderbuss is a platform meant for sharing information and materials about all that passion, and what revolves around it: guns (and archery), outdoors and hunting, and of course, the inevitable philosophical musings and considerations...

In this modern world, the shooting sports and outdoors are part of the dwindling list of things that cannot be done virtually - let's go outside and enjoy our rights and freedom safely, respectfully, lawfully and responsibly. The Blunderbuss will be there for when the sun sets or the weather is keeping us inside.

The author

Greg Frebourg was born in Geneva, Switzerland. At five, his eyes fell onto some Daisy air rifles offered in the glossy pages of a mail-order catalog and his passion for anything that shoots a projectile was born, only to grow with time. Four decades later, he seized the opportunity to pursue his passion full time.

Greg is an avid outdoorsman, hunter, conservationist, shooter and patriot. No gun escapes his interest, from arcane black powder boomsticks to the most advanced weaponry, including, of course, the air guns of his youth.

The fun of shooting does not stop at the reloading bench or after leaving the shooting range: as a scientist (he holds a bachelor, master and PhD in geology), Greg particularly enjoys diving deep into all sorts of data and analyses.

He lives in the Great State of Texas where white tail deer and feral hogs have now learned to hide from him as best as they can. It sometimes works.
